STRETCHING – DECREASE MUSCLE TIGHTNESS
Towel Stretch Technique:
Hold & pull the bath towel with a towel under the ball of the foot while extending the leg outwards
Sit back comfortably on a chair with your back against the chair
The belt can be substituted for a towel if something longer required
Can be barefoot or while wearing shoes
Towel Stretch Recommended Treatment:
Hold for 20 to 30 seconds
Repeat two times per day
Sitting Foot Stretch Technique:
Pull toes and forefoot back
Massage plantar fascia (start around the heel, then rub under the foot towards the toes)
Sitting Foot Stretch Recommended Treatment:
Apply for 30 seconds to 1 minute per side
Stair Stretch Technique:
Stand on the edge of the step
Drop heels down below the step
Stair Stretch Recommended Treatment
Hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute per side
ICE – DECREASE INFLAMMATION
Frozen Water Bottle Technique:
Use a frozen water bottle
Roll back and forth under each foot
Wear socks or cover the bottle with a towel
Frozen Water Bottle Recommended Treatment:
Roll under each foot for 1 - 2 minutes per side
FOOTWEAR – PROPERLY SUPPORT YOUR FEET
Look for footwear with good structure and some cushioning
Birkenstock sandals are a great option to be worn in the house
Also, using your custom foot orthotics in your indoor shoes can often help expedite pain relief
